I bet I don't have to send the old one to France for new wipers.

Old Bugatti vs new Volkswagen? I'd take the Bugatti too. Probably worth more.

Not really into old cars. But I'm also not really into the Veyron.

I'll take the oldie. The Veyron just isn't special anymore.

Can some1 explain all the hate towards the Veyron? The thing is good looking, its a tech master piece, its an awesome performer, and its all done in the most comfortable environment. the majority of them are unique. The hate just doesn;t make sense to me.

It's just gone the way of the Lambo doors. Overplayed.

I agree it doesn't make sense. I think the reason it rubs people the wrong way is that Veyrons are purely collector's cars with no sporting or racing pretensions. Also it spent many years being "the best" at this and "the most" of that, and so is a big target.

DEFINITELY Old.

A Bugatti Type 35 would be an experience... Somehow Veyron, with as amazing as it is, is less soulful.

But the pinnacle would be even just to SEE Bugatti 100P fly. And there is an air-worthy replica under construction to do just that.

It was designed by the numbers to clear every hurdle (fastest, most expensive, most luxurious, most tailor-made custom editions), and technically it does what it sets out to do.

Somehow, it is clinical about it, not passionate. That is subjective, I know, but something about it just says, yes, it is the best, but it somehow isn't soulful or special about it. That is kind of antithetical to what Ettore Bugatti's works, which were expressions of passionate craftsmanship that just happened to be among the best in the world.

McLaren F1 is the polar opposite, in this context. It was designed as a no-holds-barred, how can we do this the BEST way it can be done, cost no object... and was built as an expression of Gordon Murray's passion for the project.

It didn't handle perfectly (reportedly a bit of a handful above 175mph, but not uncontrollable), it wasn't luxurious, but it was SECOND TO NONE.

Even though Bugatti Veyron is technically faster and more luxurious, and has much more tech involved... the passion and innovation of the McLaren F1 speaks to me much more.
